Demo Day 1

Kitchen and flooring gutted.
Roof removed.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Halle... lujah!

Let the games begin! Demo has begun. This morning we went to the house before work and the demo guys were already on the roof beginning the teardown! Can't wait to go this evening and see how far they got.

Before...

Here is a picture of the before. Yes, we are that close. We are taking our before pictures. This is the view from our avocados orchard looking up at the existing house. In a short 18 months or so, this view will be of our cantilever family room. Can't wait! This weekend we celebrated that fact that our house project is likely to begin this week. (Like how I have learned not to assume anything WILL happen?) Anyways, Jam is getting close to finishing a house project of his own so he handed down some essential items: a level, a hammer, some caution tape, etc. What did we get ourselves into?

Way Too Exciting

Wondering why a picture of a pole is way too exciting? Well, this pole is the symbol of the start of our house project. I said that to my father-in-law today and he asked what the past year and a half were. I know, I know. We have been working through plans, approvals, permits, etc for a while now, but this pole just feels like things are finally coming together. I rounded the corner to the garage on my way home from work yesterday to find it. I was so excited I ran over to it and had to touch it to be sure that it was really the temporary power pole. Who would have ever thought a pole could make me this happy.

I also have to apologize for not posting in awhile. I didn't have any forward house progress to report and was a bit grumpy about it. I thought I'd wait until I had an exciting bit of news to share. Well, there it was. More to follow...
